Episode 16 already - and lots of firsts on this one - with plenty acoustic singer-songwriter vibes too.
Becky wrote the song about 8 years ago - the first 'proper' song she wrote. And it's inspired by Strawberrybank lane on Perth Road.

The chord progression for Take it Slow was created while James was busking, and it quickly turned into a full song. James says 'the meaning of the song is simple, it refers to people (me) who rush into things without taking their time often resulting in hard lessons learned, so the name is literally referring to me to slow down and not rush into everything. Take your time and enjoy the ride. Take time to pause, reflect and be proud of your accomplishments, no matter how big or small they seem.' The recording process was pretty smooth and only took a day in the studio with Zahra from Black Waves Audio. She is great and knows the sound well from the multiple songs and projects James has recorded with her. Very enjoyable sessions and James did a lot of experimenting which seems to have been received very well. Much more than anticipated.

The song was written during February Album Writing Month 2024 - Edwin was on a writing binge at the time and writing about more or less anything he could think of, however silly. He didn't have any specific person in mind, although people often say 'Yes I know someone just like that'...

Lightning Bolts has received a fair bit of feedback from listeners saying how relatable it is. It's about staying in a relationship that little bit too long, even after you realise there is nothing left to hold on to, you do for reasons that are complicated or even unclear. Musically this one was super fun to write and record. They love the energy it brings and the harmonica solo is one of their favourite parts!

When Rhuari was writing it he went for what he calls the 'Mr Brightside technique'. When you've written something you think is great, don't ruin it by writing a 2nd part that isn't as good, just do the first part again! The track was recorded live, then Rhuari added a 2nd electric guitar that sits underneath and a 2nd vocal.

The song was written about not really knowing what someone is really like, like no being able to read them. And the recording was all done at Archie's house with a guitar and a keyboard.
